About Me
Hello! I'm Alistair Chambers, a highly motivated Computer Science undergraduate at the University of Texas at San Antonio (Expected Graduation: Dec 2025). I possess a strong foundation in software engineering principles and have gained hands-on experience in robotics, machine learning, and sensor fusion through independent research.
I'm particularly fascinated by the intersection of hardware and software in autonomous systems. I enjoy tackling complex problems, devising algorithms, and building tangible solutions. My academic journey has equipped me with skills in various programming languages and development tools, and I'm always eager to learn and adapt to new technologies.
I'm actively seeking opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge research projects where I can apply my problem-solving abilities and collaborate with innovative teams. Outside of academics, I've served in leadership roles in student organizations like ACM and the Cybersecurity Club, and I'm a member of the Robotics and Automation Society.
Research & Lab Experience
Independent Study: Autonomous Robot Navigation
University of Texas at San Antonio
Spring 2025
Conducted independent research and development of an autonomous robot capable of LiDAR-based navigation and vision-based object recognition.
- Designed and implemented a Python-based autonomous navigation system.
- Integrated LiDAR (using PyLidar3) for obstacle detection and mapping.
- Utilized a camera with MediaPipe and TensorFlow Lite for real-time image classification.
- Devised algorithms for sensor fusion (LiDAR & Camera), path planning, and motor control.
- Managed motor control via serial communication (Pyserial).
- Engineered a multithreaded software architecture for concurrent sensor data processing and decision-making.
CS-CURE Research Proposal
University of Texas at San Antonio
Spring 2025
Developed and submitted a research proposal titled "Bio-Inspired Resource-Aware Task Allocation in Swarm Explorative Robotics".
- Focused research on decentralized AI strategies for robot swarms.
- Investigated multi-sensor systems integration for enhanced environmental perception.
- Explored resource-aware algorithms for efficient task allocation in exploration scenarios.
